" ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES"

My experience learning English at the university has been good, I have had good teachers who have taught me a lot. But I think they should pass grammar more carefully. Using blogs in English classes has helped me a lot to put writing and reading into practice. Personally, I have a hard time listening to English, many times it is because people speak very fast, it is not pronounced well or a specific accent is used and the words are pronounced differently. In the last time that I have been watching the Avatar series, it has helped me a lot to put into practice my auditory English, since they use simple dialogues, pronounce well and speak slowly. Series, movies and songs are a great way to put English into practice outside of university. I recommend it to you. I usually choose movies or series where they use simple language, and songs that are not very fast, where they pronounce well and are easily understood. As for pronunciation, it doesn't cost me much, however you can always imp...

Post 7: Changes to my Study programme

Imagen
Hi, it's me again, today I'm going to talk to you about the changes in my study program. As you mentioned earlier, I study Anthropology. This career has very varied branches, since it has branches of social sciences, statistics and natural sciences. The degree lasts 5 years, of which 2 correspond to the basic cycle and 3 correspond to specialization. The basic cycle of this career has branches such as: statistics, ethnography and archives, philosophy, human evolution, English, fundamental problems of anthropology, social theory and branches on the history of Chile. In the specialization cycle there are 3 mentions: social, archeology and physics, which have branches together and others according to each mention. Regarding the workload, in general in Anthropology there are around 5 to 7 branches per semester, they are fed up branches, but in general teachers are flexible with delivery times, especially now in a pandemic. I would make changes to the infrastructure, since t...

Blog 6. Postgraduate Studies

Imagen
I have thought about taking courses and postgraduate degrees after graduating. I believe that learning is never finished and new knowledge is always created. I would like to take courses in ethnomycology, botany, evolution and ecology, environment, among others. I really like studying and learning new things, and I like the interdisciplinary tool that it provides to anthropology. I like study subjects that combine science and social science. Unfortunately in Chile there is not much funding or opportunities for these branches of study, so you will probably have to take these courses outside of Chile, which partly makes me happy because it is an opportunity to travel and see new places, at the same time they learn new things.  Distance education can be very useful when you dedicate yourself to many things, since you can accommodate your schedules at ease, but the practical part and the face-to-face learning experience are lost along with the student-teacher relationship, I thi...

My future job

Imagen
I have thought a lot about work, my dream job is to work for myself, not for a company. However, before becoming independent in the worplace I will word on something related to conservation or flora and fauna, and the enviroment. Iwant to work in Chile and also acquire more studies outside of Chile because would like to dedicate myself to ethnobotanical research and ethnomicology.  This is why I will take the specialties of physical anthropology and archeology. I hope that my job allows me to travel a lot, and learn many things. Regarding salary, I hope to have a salary that allows me to live peacefully and save, however my projection will self-sustain myself economically by putting my knowledge into practice and creating a project that allows me to create networks and spread the healing properties of plants and fungi, In order to recover this knowledge that has been lost over time. I would like to work in different institutions to gain experience, but without a doubt my ideal job ...

Positive, negative and funny experiences about this world pandemic.

Imagen
When the news about the coronavirus outbreak in China began, it immediately reminded me of when the AH1N1 virus arrived in Chile, in a less globalized world than today. I also remember when we had to wear masks to go to school, but at that time the sanitary measurements were not as severe as nowadays, I knew immediately that we should use them again. The first months of confinement were very difficult, family relationships became tense and the problems regarding the distribution of housework became evident. Undoubtedly, many families have gone through a similar situation. This could be an opportunity to improve as a society, change our eating and health habits and our way of relating to society and the environment. Not everything has been so bad, I have had a lot of time to play role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, virtuality has helped a lot. I have also been able to organize my study times well, I have not had a major problem with that. I ...

Post 3: The best movie/series you´ve ever seen

Imagen
I really like the cinema, I love watching movies, series, documentaries, etc. I like comedy, some horror movies, suspense, drama, war, but the genres that I like the most are science fiction and adventure. I've seen so many movies that I always forget which is my favorite movie because I really like many, but one movie that I liked a lot was Avatar, my uncles and my cousin invited me to see it at the 3D cinema when it was released, it was a magical experience because you could feel inside the movie with the glasses, it was amazing to see the world and the creatures, as well as the nature that looked really impressive.  In general, I really like science fiction, adventure and fantasy films, they are my favorite genres, and I also really like Japanese cinema and cartoons. I recently saw many films by director Akira Kurosawa, I recommend it if you like old Japanese-themed movies, it's incredible, their movies are in black and white and the army uniforms they wear are real, witho...

Post 2: The best Holidays

Imagen
My best vacations were in the summer of 2020 before the covid-19 pandemic began. I went to Iquique with my boyfriend and his family; his mother and his grandfather. We went for 5 days, we rented an apartment near the beach. We visited many places such as the Iquique naval combat museum, we took a boat ride, we went to the city of Pica, the nitrate town of Humberstone, we visited the geoglyphs, the beach, the casino, the waterfront fairs, the mall zofri and the desert. The beach and the waterfront were really beautiful, they had showers to wash after bathing on the beach and bathrooms in many parts, in addition to being an inclusive city with people with disabilities. It has been the best trip so far because it is the first time I have traveled a plane, I was really nervous and I was a little scared, but it happened to me when the plane took off, it was not really that terrible and it was very pleasant, the trip was short and not scary.           ...
